ANNE SMITH, Ph.D

Anne Smith, Ph.D. returns to the WTT this July as the Boston Lobsters Coach. In addition to being a member of the original Boston Lobsters team, she won her place in the history books of all-time winners with 10 Grand Slam championships in doubles and mixed doubles. At age 17, Anne was the first American to win the French Open Junior Championships in singles. She was ranked No. 1 in the world in doubles in 1980 and 1981 and reached a career-high No.12 in singles in 1982. Anne went on to win the 35-and-over women's doubles at the U.S.Open and Wimbledon . She holds 13 national junior titles and eight national adult titles and has been inducted into the Texas Tennis Hall of Fame. Anne is a licensed psychologist in Texas , Massachusetts and Arizona and a member of the Head/Penn Racquet Sports Speaker's Bureau. She is the author of two books: GRAND SLAM: Coach Your Mind to Win in Sports, Business, and Life, Foreward by Billie Jean King; and MACH 4® Mental Training System A Handbook for Athletes, Coaches, and Parents. |
